Good Times in Ghana

 In Literacy Project

Getting to Ghana from Angola was an adventure in itself. We said goodbye to half the team, left the hotel at 10pm, got on a 1:30am flight, arrived in Lagos at 5am, and awaited our 6:30am in a very ‘unique’ transit lounge. Airline breakfast on the flight to Accra, a quick bag drop at our hotel, and off to the Slice of Africa event. 



The team at Pizza Hut Palace Mall in Accra are superb hosts, and ran a seamless event. This is our biggest sized store on the continent, so the kids, guests – including Geraldine Atta Sappor, Miss Tourism World Africa & Dorothy Ndede Kojo, Miss Tourism Ghana – and team members had plenty of space to move around and get involved. And that’s exactly what everyone did.


Sharing is Caring.

Part of our Slice of Africa project is to gather stories that will later go on to form a kids books, which will be sold to raise further funds for the African Literacy Project. At the event in Ghana we heard a wonderful tale about a magic pot, and the virtues of sharing. We won’t disclose too much just yet, but it was story that had everyone all ears.



And we’re off once again

One thing that’s become quite quickly apparent, is that we’d all love a bit more time at each country we visit. Sure, part of this is because we’d like too do some exploring of these awesome countries. But it also speaks to the team we work with, and the sense of camaraderie that comes with us all rallied around a common goal. Within a few minutes of arriving, we feel right at home.

A big thank you to the Ghanaian team for your hospitality. Next stop: Ethiopia, to launch Slice of Africa at our very first store in this country.

Established in 2016, Pizza Hut: The Literacy Project was created to encourage literacy through providing reading resources and engaging customers to make a difference for the cause. In its first year, the global campaign impacted 15.9 million people and distributed more than 275,000 books and educational resources to communities in the U.S., Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica and South Africa.
